wow... you guys obviously only became fans through the movies... this movie looks like trash they ruined Gambit nothing cajion about him they butchered emma... and don't get me started on sabertooth there is not a single thing thats animal like about him... I mean x-men 1's version of him was a shitload better than this one... man friggen kids thinking that trash things look good just goes to show what this generation is coming to fucking pathetic people not even knowing anything of the originals and calling the butchering of the actual original storyline, cast, powers, relationships, and so much more getting ruioned through these trash movies. Seriously if you want to brush up in a very light way on how x-men is supposed to be watch X-Men the Animated Series it's the original cartoon and it sticks to the original storyline far better than anything else that's come out and ruined it.

and oh yes i know this is some serious hate and what not on the movie but that's just because i'm part of the people who actually knows what 1 a good movie is and 2 what the original story is supposed to be like and 3 how badly these are ruining the characters and storyline... I get that they can't go and follow the comics that well but they can do a damn better job than they're doing with this piece of trash... Even if this were a standalone movie that I had no idea about the original storyline or anything of the sort I'd still rate this movie very low from what I can tell the people who would like this movie think that the fantastic four movies were great... just proving even more that people have bad tastes in movies and can't tell the difference from a good movie and an eye candy movie

Wait, what? You just said it was directed by Hugh Jackman?!

There was a name missing: like Jamie corrected, it is actually Gavin Hood who directed the Wolverine movie.

the guy who cried and bitched about this movie should just shut up. It's hollywood, things will always be different. You think braveheart or any movie that was based on anything was dotting every I or crossing every T. NO. I am sure the movie will be a success. stop crying buddy i will bet that you will be in the theatre watching.

I'm going to have to agree with what the anonymous said...Xmen 3 was a HORRIBLE movie..me and my GF actually walked out of it. Hollywood never follows the original script on things, they always put some stupid twist on something. I for one don't like Hugh Jackman as Wolverine...he's a pretty boy...Wolverine in the comics was too damn animalistic and not even appealing. They cast these stupid actors just to get us to trek to the theatres and be disappointed

This is one of the worst castings i have ever seen! Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth are you kidding me!? and pretty boy Taylor Kitsch as Gambit..Gambit was a BADA$S 1st pretty boy 2nd and Sabretooth was Huge...i don't know if i am acting as the 19 year old kid that i am, but i grew up seeing Sabretooth as a Big 6'8 280pound monster and Gambit (My Favorite Mutant) as a BADA$S Ladies Man...Josh Hartnett would of been perfect for the role as Gambit, don't know about Sabretooth but i am just a dreamer...i hope the acting is outstanding No pressure Liev & Taylor.

ollie said...

Was that a young Ororo Munroe that I just saw?

Anonymous said...

I think Taylor has a good look for Gambit.. I'm a bit disappointed about the eye though.. they're supposed to be red on black, not brown on white.. anyways I also like Hugh as Wolverine, for the sheer fact that he is a very good actor... Everyone who's complaining just needs to take a chill pill. It's hollywood..Sh!t gets Mucked up all the time because the people who run it interpret things differently than we do.

this is some serious hate on here! I happen to ADORE Jackman as wolverine. He can act, he's clearly JACKED for the role, and he brings the intensity.

So what if there are little details changed - i didn't hear this level of bitching when they made Rogue so young in the first one. All I can hope for is that they take as much care with this story as they did with 1 & 2. 3 was a travesty and huge disappointment. I'm just excited that they're opening up the Xmen universe and want to see a Storm origins story next (after Magneto -- and they had better not cast weak-ass halle berry again).

Although the movie is Wolverine Origins, that doesn't mean it has to be his origins as told by the comics. It just needs to be (somewhat) faithful to his movie rendering. People have to let go of the fact that the movie versions are not going to be the same as the comics. They've already done 3 movies, so this should be a pretty well-established fact. There are a lot of things that look great from this trailer, and a couple of things that don't. But I won't judge a movie based on a trailer. Excited to see the final product.

yea theres alot of ppl here hating bout how there not sticking to the original story or aspects of characters, but no im not one of those "suddenly became a fan when these movies came out" ive been one since early childhood but at least be grateful that someone is making a film based on the xmen series so stop whining bout it not being as perfect as you wanted it to be so just shut your mouf and appreciate the writers and directors for making this film and if you cant appreciate it then you go out and make your own version!!!

NEXT_LEVEL said...

Damn the X-men series was so Disappointing, can they just start all over again like the first 3 never happened please. Like the way they did with batman? Seriously another Wolverine movie its getting to be overkill, the first 3 X-men movies were about him already. I think Taylor kitsch is perfect as Gambit i just hope they dont fuck up his character like they did Storm and Rogue. I wanna be optimistic with this one, I'm hyped be the appearance by little Storm. Thats the origin Story I wanna see! I agree with someone above No Halle Berry I want the real Storm Mistress of THE ELEMENTS!

I think keeping Hugh as wolverine is the right thing to do. He is very familiar with the character by now and I know from the first three he has had plenty of X-men book fans telling him of his wrongs. He brings that knowledge with him to this movie which is a good thing. Sometimes the changes in Hollywood are good, sometimes they are bad. Gambit finally making it to the screen is enough for me to get excited. Wether it is a good or bad version of him. Can't wait!

well all i know is you guys will never be happy, most info i have seen about the movie said you will see surprises that will please true wolverine fans for me i expect one thing,in the trailor you see wolverine storming the beach during world war 2,isn't captain america coming out in 2010? didn't wolverine fight along side captain america during world war 2?will the great captain make a cameo i expect it and demand it as a true wolverine fan, because wolverine had many flashbacks over the 20 years i have read his books about fighting beside captain america, the director of the wolverine movie is a true comic book fan and owns alot of wolverine comics he has no choice, just a little CGI glimpse of captain americas back throwing his shield while wolverine helps him yea that would be sick and ultra uber in my book.

Anonymous said...

So from what I just saw Wolverine fights in the War of 1812, then storms Vimy Ridge, splashing ashore on Juno Beach, and finally Korea. Good to see him side by side with his homeboys. I guess he musta picked up the M16 off a retreating US soldier.

to that 2nd anonymous comment: what the hell do you mean there's nothing "cajion" about Gambit? you mean to say "Cajun?" bitch. first of all it's obvious he's in New Orleans, or at least at a jazz club. he LOOKS a hell of a lot like Gambit, what the hell do you want? you didn't even hear him speak in the trailer. you want to see him eating gumbo or something?

and your pathetic attempt to trash about Sabretooth: "not a single thing that's animal like about him?" OK moron- watch the trailer again.

remember this the Hollywood version of a comic book. just like like The Dark Knight is the Hollywood version of the Batman comic book.

Anonymous said...

man i think the trailer looks good its got a lot of parts from the original story i have know idea why gambit is in it he is a cool dude for sure but wolverine origin goes back way back gambit should not be even born i think people should go see the film and i am sure they will like it maybe it will open there minds to comics and start to read them to get into more depth of the charicters without these films getting made the hole comic world would still be looked at as a geeky nolife type of person thing to read witch is rubbish

I was shocked to see Gambit in the trailer--but I'm excited to see him. I was surprised that he didn't make the Xmen movies.

I'd love to see a Magneto and Storm movie. They need to redo the Phoenix Saga too.
Famke...she's alright. Didn't care for that 'thing' between her and Wolverine at the climax of the X-3 movie. Or whatever Magneto was doing when he became 'human'. It was all very cheesy in an unsettling way.

If they shoot a Storm Origin movie someone ELSE should portray Storm.
Please?
Halle never did her any justice.
And I know it's not exclusively her fault but her 'Storm' was just beyond WEAK. A frail dove. She got punked and slapped around throughout the 3 Xmen installments.
At first it was annoying...then it was just funny.

To the second anonymous, I've been reading the X-Men comics(ALL of them)for over 15yrs. I've watched storylines come and go and some fade away before they were even really resolved. It seems like they are always throwing in another twist and trying to fit it inbetween other occurances. I also know that the X-Men have been around since 1969, you try making a movie fitting that much info in. And lets not forget not everyone has picked up and X-Men comic book so these movies have to take that into account which allows them to tinker with comic book storylines. And hello?? Have you ever read a great book then seen it made into a movie? Gee I've seen lots and can't think of a single one that followed the book to a t. Get over it. Sabortooth looks badass as does Gambit who minus red eyes looks a hell of a lot like the comic character. Besides I don't believe anyone is forcing you to see the movie and as someone else said if you think you can do better go for it. I look forward to seeing your version. Till then I'm going to this one and judging it after I see it start to finish! Oh by the way why don't you go take a look at the real original X-Men in Spiderman and Friends...that would be BEFORE the 90's animated series =)

Anonymous said...

I think this tailer looks awesome! Of course I've seen great trailers for bad movies too. However unlike the second anon. I'll watch the movie and judge for myself. I've been reading every X-Men title for over 15yrs and personally I'd love to see a movie craming in every character plus their background story starting from 1969 LOL. Anyone whose read the comics should know that is impossible plus take into account that the producers have to think about those who have never read an X-Men comic. That fact alone gives them the chance to play with storylines and characters. Not to mention I haven't read a book and seen a movie based on it that followed it to the t so get over yourself. And PS maybe you should look at the real original X-Men chartoons(pre-dating the 90's) you know the ones airing in Spiderman and Friends =)

Anonymous said...

lol omg I remember that episode of spider-man and his amazing friends. Ok I'll see your bet and raise you another. Ever see the awsome one shot x-men cartoon "pryde of the x-men" hmm? Also pretty cool.

Oh and I have been an x-men fan since the early 80s. i have collected and read every issue of x-men comics dating back to the late 70s. i liked the first 2 x-men movies, hated the 3rd, but i think the wolverine one looks pretty sweet.

Anonymous said...

this looks good until the end where he jumps on the helicopter. i hope thats a joke because i really want this to be a good movie

turlie said...

I have to say I am very happy with the trailer, remember it's a trailer. to be honest the second anonymous's scathing comments about the movie read more like her started collecting the comics when he started watching the Saturday morning cartoon. I think any die hard xmen fan understands, there is no one story line you can just stick to....there are too many! All you can do is just make sure you stick to the major details. And we all have a favorite version of each charachter, I mean gambit alone had over 20 looks in the comic books. On a side note, who is the women in the trailer that morphs into Crystal???? I am still scratching my head on that one....at first I thought it was Prism. But Emma frost does have a Indestructible diamond form but that didn't come to life until later in a lot of the comics......

Honestly, while I know this is wildly different from the comics -- Wolverine was in no way a willing participant of the Weapon X program -- this is looking good. Wolverine's both animalistic and human, the former of which the X-Men movies pretty much ignored, sadly. Sabretooth seems to be as he should be: quite frankly, in X1, they made him too much the animal. Reading the comics, he's got way too much cunning in him to be put down to a mute muscle man.

The one thing I'm worried about is the same problem that X3 ran into. Trying to cram too many of the Marvel characters into one movie. I saw: Wolverine, Sabretooth, Deadpool, the Blob (apparently not as immovable in the movie world as in the comic world), Emma Frost (secondary mutation in the Weapon X program? What?), Gambit, Silver Fox, Kestrel, what seems to be young Storm, what could be Garrison Kane (flying roundhouse kick just before it shows Emma), and any other Weapon X members they put in like the Professor, Dr. Cornelius, Hines, etc. And seeing as they won't be introducing them initially as a team, like with the X-Men, it's kind of hard to get away with that many characters. And hell, those are just the ones we saw. They could still put in all kinds of Weapon X, Alpha Flight, and X-Men characters.

I'll be watching it in theaters, for sure, but damned if I can't help but be a little hesitant with that many characters in it, and not knowing what kind of time it spans. Obviously from when his powers manifest to at least when the Weapon X program...but after that...up until he joins the X-Men? Alpha Flight? Guess we'll find out come May 1

Just wanted to comment on a couple of things...

as a comic fan since the early 80s (first x-men book 169) guys, just be happy we finally get to see our heroes on the scren. Please, be happy.

I agree the "lil storm" was great. So maybe they will show her thieving in cairo.
Gambit looked good to me. Sabretooth could have been bigger, but i disagree with the animalistic comment. Sabretooth has been both animalistic and a gentleman (check x-men when they first introduced omega red).
Dont hate on jackman. He is here and he gets the job done.
I do agree with them spotlighting wolvie too much. The x-men movies were basically wolverine movies!!! I did hate the last xmen movie. Too many storylines they are meshing together...jeez.
Last but not least. Storm is not a skinny black women. She is what we call thick. Halle is not her. As a matter of fact, find N'Bushe Wright (Dead Presidents). She has to at least have some stron african facial features.
Thanks and guys enjoy the movies. They got our x-men on the screen!!!!

Deadpool. Apocalypse. Bishop. Cable. Colossus.
Hollywood has good intentions, but holy snap, you cant put such an original and intense creation in the lap of a person without the ability to honestly gratify or justify the creator and entire story of each character of the X-Men, or the world of mutants.
The live action X-Men films are horrible, and mos def embarrassing for Stan Lee. Nothing in the films are as accurate as such a
"story-to-film" should be, all 3 movies so far are way to rushed. As far as portrayal of characters in the films, Beast and Sabretooth
are the only two-to be somewhat closely portrayed... but completely ruined within the latest film.
The entire story of the X-Men and of the mutants has been totally ruined by "The Quick to Sell"-Hollywood producers and directors.
As far as the rest of the story of the X-men, and the rest of the characters and their origins, all ruined. ....Unless "they" re-make the films already produced like the Batman flix, the X-men story is lost,.. tainted and will become at the very least a very boring comic.
Great actors in all films yes. Horrible casting.
Wonder if the X-Men would have come out better in the 80's or 90's....and been less rushed...
The X-Men story needs length, effort, dedication and lots of money to be accurate in live action filming.
Wont happen though, will it?

I am disapointed of NOT giving wolverine, Cyclops and others their respective hero attire.. wearing masks, gadgets etc etc... like spiderman.... they really did a very good job. I hope other directors will notice this and make their own version of X-men movie. I like the director of Spiderman, Transformers, the Rock and Matrix... combined of their ideas will make a very nice action X-men movies or Wolverine.

ZHARK said...

Yeah , I agree with PapaBadger. Can we petition for this? Unlike Ironman ( wow very nice outfit ) , Spiderman (cool mask - well done)... Wolverine and Cyclops and Jean Grey ( wearing leather suits ... yaaaak! ) Please please justify the original X-men in the comics. Sir Stan Lee say something to them.

I've been an X-Men comic fan since I was a kid in the 80's. I know just about everything there is to know about them. I just watched this Wolverine trailer and I have to say I think it looks like it might be pretty damn good! When I saw that first shorter teaser trailer a few months back, I had my worries. I thought it looked a lot like the Elektra movie with Jennifer Garner (that would NOT have been a good thing!) But this trailer here has me excited to see the film. We all have to accept that it's not gonna ne exactly like the comics. Some things HAVE to be changed for Hollywood. The only thing that bothers me about when the movies do things differently, the comics ALWAYS change things to be like the movie. Thats the worst. Like after the first X-Men movie came out, they changed how Wolverine's claws popped out to make it like the movie. There's NO REASON to do that! So hopefully the comics will remain the comics and the movies will remail the movies. Slightly different, but still enjoyable (HOPEFULLY!)

Just finished watching X-Men 3...awesome sweet movie, better than those trash X-Men 1 & 2:/

Can't wait for this movie, trailer is just too damn good:)

To the first anonymous commenter: Obviously you don't know enough about the comics. otherwise you'd know that Sabertooth didn't always have fur and huge claws.

Greetings to all of you who have read comic books (5%) and to those of you who have never picked up a comic book in your life(95%).

I have been reading comic books since most of you all were knee high to a grasshopper.

Most of you are not even old enough to remember that crappy cartoon from the 90's about the X Men. It was better than the 3 Movies. Chinese Web was a better comic book movie than all 3 of those combined. They should have started with "First Class" and "Baptism by Fire".

They should have started with the 5. Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Beast, and Angel. That is the way they should have started the movies. Maybe in 20 Years they will go back and fix it. I know people who have written for major comic book companies who hate these movies.

So far the Best one was Punisher WarZone.

As far as the Wolverine Movie. They should have started out with what would be akin to PTSD Flashbacks. Jumble them up because his memory is unreliable. Start with Korea, then hit the Mexican War, then hit WW2 with Captain American and the Howling Commandos, Then have him in Cuba with El Tigre to learn about Kennedy's Assasination.

Then you could end the movie with him joining Alpha Flight. Waits for most of you who have never picked up a comic books to have to go look up Alpha Flights.

Gambit should look Rugged. Women love him because he is suave. He is that Dangerous Man that every woman loves. The type of person who would end a fight by handing an aggressive person a beer and the beer bottle somehow exploding in the guys face. Oooooh Its a Mystery.

Sabretooth do not even get me started on why they should not put a mamas boy model as Sabretooth.

I know the White Christians Murdered most of the Indians when they were acting under the Order of their God to Murder Indigenous People and Rape little Kids. Could we find an Indian or someone who looks the part to play Silver Fox. White Chicks should not play pissed off Indians.

The Anonymous who posted on December 19th that disrespected the US Armed Forces. I had good friends, brothers, and sisters die in that desert. I do not appreciate you disrespecting them. I sweat, cried, and bled with those men and women.

Proud Pagan Warrior,
The Bear

All of U are haters, and it is ALPHA FLIGHT not FLIGHTS, did not care too much for the last X movie but this one I know I will like. Been collecting for 37 years, and despite the fact that they don't do costumes from the comics in leather instead of spandex is a true disappointment, but U know what I am 1 of the few who watched DD twice... and Elektra!!! None of U can even remember Marvel's shameless attempt at series tv in the 70's and 80's. So quit your bitterness spoiled out of touch 9021ho wannabies!!!! U don't have to even breath the same air as us vets!!! Despite the fact that Jackman is too tall he is still RIGHT for the role... Even todays writers drop the ball when it comes to Wolverine, he has a healing factor so he should not have scars!!!! And any man that lives as long as he has and speaks as many languages he does, and fights as good as he does let us not forget he is also a swordsman a master at it. And U dumbass writers want to write him stupid?
Till Jackman speaks Japanese....

I bet Marvel can't wait to get the rights back to the X universe from Fox after the travesty the movie franchise has become. For all you who say that because its a movie its going to be different, Marvel showed with Iron Man and Sony showed with Spiderman 1 that you can stick close to the source material and still have a good movie.
